Position Overview
As SQM Global Sourcing Manager, you are responsible for qualifying and assessing suppliers through structured remote audits as part of the supplier approval and development process. You ensure that all quality, EHS, and process requirements are met. Based on your audit and assessment, you will release the supplier for subsequent on-site audits to be performed by requesting / nominated SQM organisation. For the prospective suppliers, who qualify subject to completion of additional tasks, you will review the completion of action items and trigger decision of selection / rejection.
To perform this role, you will used designated tools and laid down processes and closely interact with internal functions like Procurement, Quality Management etc.
This role acts as a gatekeeper function, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and transparent supplier assessments across the supply chain
You'll Make a Difference By
Plan, prepare, and conduct remote supplier audits in accordance with defined quality and audit standards (e.g. VDA 6.3, ISO norms) and record evidence.
- Ensure that all required supplier documentation (Quality, EHS (Environment, Health & Safety), Cybersecurity, Social Responsibility compliance , process documentation is fully completed, reviewed, and compliant prior to audit approval.
Perform and evaluate remote factory tours, including:
- Manufacturing and Process Flows
- EHS compliance
- 5S implementation and workplace organization
- Assess supplier maturity, risks, and compliance against defined criteria and document audit results in a structured and traceable manner.
- Decide on audit readiness and release suppliers only after all defined criteria are fulfilled.
- After successful completion of the remote audit, transfer the complete and approved audit package to the responsible local unit.
- Coordinate with local Supplier Quality, Procurement, and Quality teams to enable and support on-site audits conducted by local audit teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of remote audit methodologies, checklists, and standards.
- Ensure transparency, consistency, and compliance across all supplier audit activities.
- Schedule and Perform supplier re-audit when requested by Procurement / Location SQM.
Your Success Is Grounded In
- Master's degree in a technical field (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent from reputed industries
- Certified Auditor VDA 6.3
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on professional experience in Supplier Quality Management, Quality Assurance, Audits, or Manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience in conducting supplier audits, preferably including remote audits

- ISO 9001 – Quality Management
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
- ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety
- ISO 27001 – Information Security
Strong Understanding Of
- Supplier qualification and development processes
- Manufacturing and industrial processes
- EHS requirements and risk assessment
- 5S and lean principles
- High analytical skills and ability to evaluate supplier maturity and risks remotely.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in an international environment.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage.
- Knowledge of Social Audit will be an advantage
