The Opportunity:
An exceptional career opportunity for innovative, committed, and forward-looking individual to create transformational value in Finance Function.
- Support in leading the indirect taxation function for the copper business, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, and assist in developing and implementing tax strategies that align with business objectives and optimize tax efficiency.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns, including GST, VAT, and other applicable taxes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to avoid penalties and interest, while monitoring changes in tax legislation and assessing their impact on the business. Lead custom activities of imports and exports for copper business, ensuring duty benefits.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to address tax-related issues and opportunities, providing guidance and support to the finance and accounting teams on indirect tax matters, and conducting regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage relationships with tax authorities, responding to enquiries and audits in a timely and effective manner, assisting in the negotiation and resolution of tax disputes, and implementing digital tools and technologies to streamline tax processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance decision-making.
- Manage and develop the tax team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, and ensuring continuous professional development.
The Successful Applicant
- An ideal candidate would be a 1st attempt Chartered Accountant with minimum 5 to 6 years of experience in indirect taxation within the manufacturing or metals industry, with a significant focus on copper production.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GST, VAT, and other relevant tax regulations, as well as experience in managing tax compliance, audits, and disputes.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the tax function.
