Role & responsibilities
This is a role in corporate taxation which undertakes all aspects of tax transactions across the various legal entities of the sub-continent, including direct taxes and / or indirect taxes as well as tax forecasts. Tax managers responsibilities will also include coordinating and participating in tax audits and reviews, ensuring all tax related compliances; be it depositing tax, filing returns, or ensuring that the ERP is configured with the correct rates / codes. It also entails assisting in all tax related litigations, handling of notices, their response within timelines, appeals, hearings. It will also entail liaising with consultants / lawyers for tax related matters. The role requires to work as a business partner to each BU in advising the BU and or customers / vendors on effective tax planning which will help the BU to bolster revenues and earnings. The role reports to Taxation Controller.
- Manage and develop over all aspects of the company's tax process including multiple legal entities
- Focussing on both direct and / or indirect taxes
- Tax forecasts, controlling and data validation of the reports
- Supporting and advising the Company's BUs in tax related issues
- Cooperation with internal and external stakeholders (BU heads, functions, customers, vendors, consultants and lawyers) to achieve desired outcomes
- Dealing with notices, their timely replies, appeals at various levels, co ordinating with consultants to ensure all hearings are well managed
- Taking informed decisions on tax positions in consultation with the Taxation Controller relating to notices and appeals in coordination with consultants and drafting replies post due approvals.
- Ad hoc tasks arising from tax meeting
- Provide inventive tax planning and review intricate income tax returns.
- Implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures.
- Identify tax risks and take actions to mitigate the same.
- Manage tax provision and tax compliance process without noncompliance either on payments or filings or responses on monthly / each response basis.
- Coordinate with tax audits and special tax-related projects.
- Responsible for advance tax calculations and depositing the same within the due date for all entities in the region.
- Pro-actively studying relevant jurisprudence and changes in law and preparing customized representations and advocating change via industry bodies.
- Assisting in driving tax technology and adoption in areas of compliance, analytics and risk management.
- Preparation and review of Deferred Tax calculations for all entities in the region on monthly basis.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law development and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.
- Provide help in minimizing tax risk in regard to acquisitions, mergers, and various other business dealings.
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Preferred candidate profile
- Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India
- 10 15 years post qualification experience, some of which preferably gained in a large multinational organisation.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity associated with a high growth environment
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders without issues and without compromising on the goals.
