Job Description

As a Deployment Mechatronics Intern at ERIC Robotics, you will support the deployment, assembly, calibration, and field testing of robotic systems. This role focuses on hands-on work with mechanical systems, sensors, wiring, and robotic hardware during pilots and field deployments.

You will work closely with the engineering team to ensure that robotic systems are properly assembled, calibrated, and ready for real-world operation.

This is a hands-on engineering internship, not a desk-only role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Hardware & Mechanical Deployment

  • Assist in assembling and deploying robotic systems during internal testing and field trials.

  • Support mechanical fitment, alignment, and mounting of components.

  • Help with wiring of sensors, actuators, and connectors.

  • Ensure proper mechanical stability and secure mounting of hardware components.

2. Calibration & Testing

  • Assist in calibration of sensors such as:

    • Cameras

    • LiDAR

    • Encoders

    • IMUs

  • Support testing of:

    • Mechanical motion

    • Sensor alignment

    • System functionality

  • Help during field testing and trial runs.

3. Troubleshooting Support

  • Assist in identifying and resolving issues related to:

    • Mechanical assemblies

    • Basic electrical connections

    • Sensors and mounting systems

  • Work with senior engineers during debugging and testing.

  • Support documentation of issues observed during trials.

4. Documentation & Checklists

  • Follow deployment and assembly SOPs.

  • Assist in maintaining:

    • Assembly checklists

    • Calibration logs

    • Field test notes

  • Support preparation of basic deployment documentation.

Requirements

Technical Skills (Must Have)

Currently pursuing or recently completed:

  • Diploma / Bachelor's in:

    • Mechatronics

    • Mechanical Engineering

    • Electronics

    • Instrumentation

Basic understanding of:

  • Mechanical assembly

  • Sensors and actuators

  • Electrical wiring

Ability to:

  • Read basic mechanical drawings

  • Understand simple wiring diagrams

  • Use basic hand tools.

Good to Have

  • Interest in robotics systems

  • Exposure to mechanical or robotics projects

  • Basic understanding of:

    • Linux

    • Robotics systems

    • ROS (basic awareness)
