Job Overview

The Department Manager is a mid-level, full-time role based in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. This position involves overseeing daily retail operations within assigned departments to ensure outstanding customer experiences and operational excellence. Candidates should have up to 6 years of relevant work experience, ideally within dynamic, high-growth retail environments.

  • Proven expertise in retail operation (Mandatory skill) with demonstrated success in managing departmental activities, inventory, and customer service delivery in a retail setting.
  • Strong background in team leadership, motivating staff to achieve departmental goals, ensuring a collaborative and high-performance working environment.
  • Competency in strategic planning, executing departmental business strategies, and aligning operations with company objectives for sustainable growth.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff development, including coaching, mentoring, and identifying growth opportunities for team members.
  • Solid skills in performance management, utilizing data-driven methods to monitor, evaluate, and improve employee and departmental performance.
  • Effective operations management skills, ensuring smooth workflow, stock management, and adherence to company policies and processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, fostering strong customer and team relationships while efficiently handling escalations.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex situations, make sound decisions, and respond agilely to dynamic retail environments.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end operations of assigned department(s), ensuring optimal product availability, visual merchandising, and superior customer service delivery.
  • Lead, train, and mentor staff to ensure productivity, compliance with organizational standards, and continuous professional development.
  • Execute strategic business plans for the department by analyzing market trends, customer preferences, and aligning with organizational objectives.
  • Drive sales targets, monitor stock levels, and implement measures for inventory accuracy, loss prevention, and wastage control.
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to company policies, safety standards, and operational protocols within the department.
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide regular feedback, and administer incentive or corrective actions as required.
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints efficiently, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat patronage.
  • Prepare and submit operational and sales reports, contributing insights for department improvements and business growth.
