Department Manager Fashion Retail
Role Summary
The Department Manager is responsible for driving sales, managing day-to-day operations of the assigned department, leading the team, ensuring visual merchandising standards, and delivering excellent customer experience in line with brand and company guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Performance
- Achieve department sales targets, conversion, UPT, and ASP as per business plan
- Drive add-on sales, cross-selling, and promotion effectiveness
- Analyze daily/weekly sales reports and take corrective actions
- Ensure availability of right merchandise through replenishment and stock rotation
Team Management
- Manage, coach, and motivate department associates
- Prepare duty rosters, manage attendance, and control attrition
- Conduct daily briefings and on-the-job training
- Support hiring, induction, and performance management of team members
Customer Experience
- Ensure high standards of customer service and complaint resolution
- Handle customer escalations professionally and promptly
- Encourage customer engagement, loyalty programs, and repeat business
Visual Merchandising (VM)
- Ensure VM guidelines are implemented accurately
- Maintain product display, mannequins, signage, and store hygiene
- Coordinate with VM team for seasonal and promotional changes
Inventory & Operations
- Maintain stock accuracy and shrinkage control
- Ensure timely inwarding, tagging, and floor movement of merchandise
- Participate in cycle counts, audits, and stock takes
- Ensure SOP compliance, safety, and loss prevention standards
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to company policies, HR processes, and statutory requirements
- Maintain documentation related to sales, attendance, and inventory
- Submit timely reports to Store Manager / Area Manager

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate in any discipline (preferred)
- 25 years of experience in fashion retail, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Good communication and customer handling skills
- Basic computer knowledge (POS, MS Excel)
- Understanding of fashion trends and retail operations
