Database Administrator - SQL Server

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across on-premises and cloud platforms.
• Monitor database performance and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Execute regular database backups, restores, and recovery operations.
• Implement and manage SQL Server security including authentication, roles, and permissions.
• Optimize SQL queries and indexes to improve performance and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including system outages and latency.
• Design and maintain HA/DR solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Replication, Clustering).
• Automate routine DBA tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, or other scripting tools.
• Perform capacity planning and ensure efficient storage management.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and change logs.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams on database design, deployments, and support.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA supporting SQL Server 2012, 2016, 2019, and/or 2022.
• Expertise in T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
• Deep understanding of backup/restore/recovery models and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with HA/DR configurations.
• Proficiency with monitoring and diagnostic tools like SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and third-party tools (e.g., Redgate, SolarWinds).
• Strong background in performance tuning and query optimization.
• Exposure to cloud-based SQL environments such as Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, or AWS RDS.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to document technical processes effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar certification.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS).
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices for database deployments and DevOps principles.
• Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
