In this role, you will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing our database environments to ensure high performance, availability, and data integrity.
You'll collaborate closely with developers, DevOps engineers, and stakeholders to support existing systems and design future-ready data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain database systems (e.g., SQL Server or similar).
Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures for optimal efficiency and scalability.
Manage database security, access control, and backup/recovery strategies.
Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
Develop and maintain database documentation, including schemas, procedures, and best practices.
Support application development teams with query optimization, schema design, and data modeling.
Implement and maintain high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and replication solutions.
Perform regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with data governance policies.
Troubleshoot database issues and provide on-call support as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
5 - 8 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator.
Proficiency in at least one major RDBMS (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server).
Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
Strong understanding of database security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
Hands-on experience with cloud database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, GCP Cloud SQL) is a plus.
Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles.
Preferred Skills
Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, SolarWinds).
Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
Exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) is a plus.
