Job Title: NoSQL Database Administrator (Contract to Hire)

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL (experience in at least two).
- Manage High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, such as Always on High Availability Groups and failover clustering.
- Manage database storage, perform database backup and recovery operations to ensure data integrity.
- Optimize database performance and tune queries.
- Implement robust security controls and manage user access.
- Automate routine tasks using Python, Shell, or Ansible.
- Collaborate with DevOps and cloud teams to monitor and scale databases.
- Provide support for AWS-hosted databases like Document DB and Aurora SQL.
- Troubleshoot issues and support production environments.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a production environment.
- Automate repetitive database administration tasks
- Strong documentation habits and communication across technical and non-technical teams.
- Suggest changes and improvements for management, maintenance and securing databases
- Explore new database tools and stay apprised about emerging technologies and trends
- Comfortable for 24 x 7 support as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in database administration.
- Strong expertise in MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL (any two).
- Proficient in Linux/Unix environments.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3).
- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
- Scripting skills in Shell, Python, or Perl.
