Project Role Description:
Administer, develop, test, and demonstrate databases. Perform various related database functions across one or more teams or clients, including designing, implementing, and maintaining new databases, backup/recovery, and configuration management. Install database management systems (DBMS) and provide input for modifying procedures and documentation used for problem resolution and day-to-day maintenance.
Summary:
As an IBM DB2 Database Administrator, you will be responsible for administering, developing, testing, and demonstrating databases. Your typical day will involve designing, implementing, and maintaining new databases, performing backup/recovery, and managing configuration.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain IBM DB2 databases for optimal performance and availability.
- Perform backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Provide input for modification of procedures and documentation used for problem resolution and day-to-day maintenance.
- Install and configure database management systems (DBMS) and related software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database systems meet business requirements and performance expectations.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must Have Skills: Expertise in IBM DB2 Database Administration.
- Good to Have Skills: Experience with other database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and implementation.
- Experience with backup and recovery procedures and tools.
- Knowledge of database security and access control.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Solid grasp of SQL and other database query languages.
Additional Information:
- A minimum of 7.5 years of experience in IBM DB2 Database Administration is required.
- The ideal candidate should have a strong educational background in computer science, information technology, or a related field, along with a proven track record of delivering impactful database solutions.
