About the Team: Data Science at Delhivery

Data Science is fundamental to Delhivery's operations. Handling nearly three million parcels daily necessitates the extensive use of technology and algorithms, a core function of our Data Science/AI team.

Our team focuses on identifying and solving high-impact business challenges using our vast data resources. This includes, but is not limited to,

1. Location and Maps - Understanding addresses, their location and attributes, and how to reach them and service them differentially.
2. Network Optimisation - Optimising facility locations within our network, parcel distribution among riders, optimising connections and resources.
3. Predictive Modelling - Pricing, RTO, Product Categorisation, Fraud Modelling.
4. LLM/ Agentic Interventions - Building custom LLMs, using existing LLMs to solve business problems using agents in multi-modal use cases.

Each team member is expected to take full ownership of a problem statement, requiring the ability to switch between high-level business discussions and deeply technical solution design and implementation.

About the Role: Data Scientist 1/2

We are seeking data science all-rounders for the Data Scientist position. While deep expertise in either traditional modeling or advanced LLM customizations (beyond prompt engineering) is required, candidates should also possess a foundational understanding and appreciation of a broader range of data science models.

Additionally, all our data scientists must be highly hands-on with data and skilled at extracting insights from it.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and understand business problems solvable through data and analytics.
• Translate business problems into data-solvable formulations.
• Gather and analyze data, and build models.
• Rigorously analyze and test models/heuristics with a business-first approach.
• Clearly communicate model results and analyses to business managers.
• Collaborate with operational and other teams to convert data insights into business outcomes.
• Work with product and technology teams to integrate insights and model outputs into our core technology products.

Required Qualifications:

We are looking for individuals passionate about data, business, and bridging the two to create significant impact. Our team operates at a rapid pace, expecting quick turnarounds. The ability to navigate ambiguous problem statements and expectations is a critical aspect of this role.

Key Requirements:

• Strong mathematics and logic skills.
• Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills.
• Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language.
• Deep knowledge and practical application of either operations research, statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, or simulations to unstructured industry problems.
• Common sense and an understanding of common logical fallacies.
• Proven track record of delivering end-to-end solutions to industry problems.
• 1 to 4 years of relevant industry experience.
• Bachelor's/Master's degree in a STEM subject from a top-tier institution (domestic or international).
