Role Summary

Delta Air Lines is seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist to join their SVOE – HR Innovation & Employee Experience (Single View of Employee) team. This role is designed for a Junior Data Scientist with 2–5 years of hands-on experience who is passionate about using data to generate insights and build data-driven solutions. You will work with structured and semi-structured datasets to perform exploratory analysis, feature engineering, and statistical modeling in support of business and product decisions.

You will develop and maintain data pipelines and analytical workflows using Python and AWS services (such as S3, lambda, Redshift, Athena, Bedrock, SageMaker), ensuring data quality, reproducibility, and scalability. The role involves applying machine learning techniques, hypothesis testing, and descriptive analytics to solve well-defined

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to high-impact analytical and modelling projects from problem definition to measurable business outcome.
  • Perform hypothesis testing, model validation and back testing
  • Build predictive and prescriptive models using appropriate statistical and machine-learning methods.
  • Clearly communicate uncertainty, limitations, and trade-offs
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure models are implemented reliably and responsibly in production.
  • Contribute to our standards for validation, documentation, and reproducible analytical practice.

What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

  • 3+ years of strong experience in Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn) and basic SQL
  • 3+ Years of relevant experience with AWS Techstack (S3, lambda, redshift/postgres)
  • Have performed exploratory data analysis(EDA) and ability to identify data patterns
  • Strong understanding of ML fundamentals
  • Build and evaluate ML models (classification, regression, clustering)
  • Experience in time-series or behavioral data analysis
  • Ability to apply feature engineering techniques
  • Basic understanding of MLOps
  • Exposure to NLP or text analytics(ex: sentiment analysis, survey text analysis) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Atleast one end-to-end ML project involving – data extraction, preparation, feature engineering, model building, model evaluation, delivering results in a usable format(dashboard, report or dataset)
