Job Description

  • Lead APAC data platform strategy, ensuring scalable, standardized, and cost-efficient solutions aligned with global models and AI/Analytics priorities.
  • Own end-to-end data product lifecycle (creation, evolution, retirement) and drive alignment with global governance standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend data product improvements with clear trade-offs across cost, risk, and business impact.
  • Enforce data management best practices including metadata cataloging, lineage, and reference data standardization.
  • Drive data literacy and adoption through sandbox environments, structured usage frameworks, and upskilling initiatives.
  • Enable transition from local/legacy solutions to governed, enterprise-wide platforms.
  • Manage and mentor team while ensuring stakeholder alignment, prioritization, and conflict resolution across business, IT, and global teams.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Data Platform & Governance Director - APAC should have:

  • 13+ years in data management, data engineering, or data platform leadership roles, with at least 3 years in a regional or global capacity.
  • Proven track record of owning and operating enterprise-scale data platforms (cloud/hybrid).
  • Demonstrated success in defining and implementing data governance frameworks, including cataloging, lineage, data quality, and access management.
  • Hands-on leadership of data product lifecycle: creation, evolution, retirement, and alignment with global standards.
  • Strong background in stakeholder management, including collaboration with IT, business, and global data offices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Databricks for data engineering, orchestration, and analytics workloads.
  • Cloud Data Platforms: Deep experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, ADLS, and related Azure data services.
  • Data Modeling: Strong understanding of data modeling (dimensional, lakehouse, medallion), schema management, and data contracts.
  • Data Governance Tools: Hands-on with data cataloguing (e.g., Purview, Data Hub), metadata management, and lineage tracking.
  • Security & Compliance: Knowledge of PII handling, access controls (RBAC, AD groups), Row-Level Security (RLS), and regulatory compliance (GDPR, local data laws).
