Position: Data Modeller / Data Warehouse Modelling Specialist
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeller with strong hands-on expertise in endtoend data warehouse (DWH) design, data modelling best practices, and enterprise data architecture. The ideal candidate should have built data warehouses from scratch and be able to clearly articulate the complete lifecyclefrom source analysis to consumption.
Key Responsibilities
1. EndtoEnd Data Warehouse Development
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise data warehouses and data marts.
- Conduct source system analysis, understand business processes, and define data ingestion strategies.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models using industry-standard modelling techniques.
2. Data Modelling Expertise
- Design models using Star Schema, Snowflake, and 3NF depending on business requirements.
- Build and maintain ER diagrams, metadata definitions, and data dictionaries.
- Ensure models support scalability, performance, and reporting requirements.
3. ETL/ELT Collaboration
- Work closely with ETL developers to translate models into optimized pipelines.
- Provide guidance on data transformations, aggregations, SCD types (1/2/3), and data quality rules.
4. Data Governance & Quality
- Enforce data governance practices such as data lineage, data cataloging, master data definitions, and naming standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
5. Business Stakeholder Interaction
- Translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Conduct workshops to explain endtoend data flows, DWH architecture, and consumption layers.
- Document design decisions, architecture diagrams, and data flow processes.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- 5+ years of data modelling experience (enterpriselevel preferred)
- Strong command over:
- ER modelling
- Dimensional modelling
- Data warehouse architecture (Kimball/Inmon)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Modelling tools: ERWin, PowerDesigner, SQLDBM, Lucidchart
- Cloud platforms (any): Azure, AWS, GCP
- Databases: SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Oracle
- Proficiency in SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Experience working with ETL/ELT tools (ADF, Informatica, Talend, DBT, SSIS etc.).
Soft Skills
- Strong communicationability to clearly explain endtoend data warehouse approach.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (business, ETL, analysts).
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and analytical skills.
Preferred Experience
- Building a data warehouse from scratch (mandatory).
- Knowledge of Data Vault modelling is a plus.
- Experience implementing enterprise reporting solutions (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
- Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for data projects.
