Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Vault Modeler / Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale Data Vault 2.0 solutions within banking, risk, and regulatory data domains. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, deep understanding of banking and financial services, and the ability to collaborate across business, risk, and data-engineering teams to deliver scalable, auditable, and compliant data architectures.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Modeling & Architecture
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale data models using Data Vault 2.0 methodology, including Hubs, Links, and Satellites.
- Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support banking, risk, finance, and regulatory reporting use cases.
- Ensure data models are scalable, auditable, and compliant with regulatory and internal governance standards.
Banking, Risk & Regulatory Alignment
- Collaborate closely with business, risk, finance, and compliance stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data-vault structures.
- Support regulatory and risk initiatives such as BCBS 239, risk aggregation, financial controls, and regulatory reporting.
- Design data models that enable traceability, lineage, and auditability across source systems and downstream consumption layers.
Standards, Governance & Metadata
- Define, document, and enforce data modelling standards, naming conventions, historization rules, and data-vault best practices.
- Ensure strong alignment between source-to-vault and vault-to-consumption layers.
- Work with metadata, lineage, and data-governance teams to ensure consistency and transparency across the data ecosystem.
ETL / ELT & Analytics Enablement
- Support ETL/ELT development teams by providing optimized vault designs, source-system mappings, and transformation guidance.
- Advise on performance optimization, data-quality controls, reconciliation, and error-handling mechanisms.
- Enable downstream analytics, reporting, and consumption layers by ensuring high-quality, well-structured vault models.
Collaboration & Communication
- Act as a subject-matter expert for data modelling and Data Vault architecture.
- Communicate complex data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and solution governance forums.
Requirements
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in data modeling, with hands-on Data Vault 2.0 knowledge (Hubs, Links, Satellites).
- Good experience working with SQL-based data modelling tools (DBM tools).
- Strong SQL knowledge and understanding of relational database concepts.
- Experience supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and data-warehouse architectures.
Domain Expertise
- Strong understanding of Banking & Financial Services domains.
- Hands-on exposure to risk, finance, and regulatory data.
- Familiarity with BCBS 239, regulatory reporting, and audit requirements is a strong advantage.
Soft Skills
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred / Nice To Have
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise or regulatory programs.
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and lineage tools.
- Certification or formal training in Data Vault modeling.
