Main Purpose of Job

The Data Team Lead will be responsible for managing the data extraction, cleanse and quality of key data used within the organisation. This role will lead a team of data resources, who are responsible for capturing data from various sources of information (often unstructured/flat files) into a structured excel data set.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of data resources involved in data capture, cleansing, and enrichment of information captured from various sources.
  • Perform quality assurance activities to ensure the data output provided by the team is accurate without any errors; this is essential as the data involved is financial operational data, often received in unstructured format like pdf/word files.
  • Capturing of best practices/lessons and ensuring these are adhered to by the team to ensure robust data quality. Ensuring close collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team. Applying disciplinary actions for data handling violations.
  • Resource allocation and advance planning of work to meet critical deadlines.
  • Managing stakeholders to obtain/clarify information and ultimately receive sign-off.
  • Working with IT team to upload data into a central Master Data system.
  • Presenting regular updates to Management team, on progress, blockers and quality adherence.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of a centralized repository for supporting evidence in SharePoint. Ensure clear traceability of data received, to data cleansed, to data signed-off, to data submitted for loading into the system.

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong team management and coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document and present status update on data capture, data cleanse, and data review activities.
  • Resilient to pressure in managing multiple tasks and context switching.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.
  • Experience of capturing and cleansing high volume operational/finance data, in a collaborative environment working with multiple team members and stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills required to perform data capture, cleanse and reporting e.g. VLOOKUP's, formulas, pivots, table, and filtering.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the logistics/shipping industry.
  • Experience in Data used within Finance/Accounts Payable.
