Job Function Summary
As an Data Governance Specialist, your role will involve supporting and driving data governance and control initiatives, with a particular focus on the firm's Trader Master reference data. This position requires a strong technical background in Data Management, Data Lineage, Data Quality, and Data Analytics within the Financial Services and/or Technology domains. The role emphasizes enhancing data quality, governance infrastructure, and operational efficiency while collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to high-impact projects in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment.
Principal Responsibilities
- Data Governance Frameworks: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain preventive controls, data governance frameworks, and entitlements management.
- Data Quality Management: Monitor and address data quality exceptions, ensuring accuracy for trader lifecycle and contract data while implementing proactive controls and SLAs.
- Change Management: Support the development of the Trader Master Data Catalog and structured workflows for change requests, approvals, and downstream impact assessments.
- Automation and Analytics: Automate manual reporting processes and develop dashboards for data quality monitoring and operational risk management
- Operational Efficiency: Drive efficiency by automating exception monitoring, resolution, and reconciliation processes to reduce reliance on manual workflows and improve scalability.
- Cross-System Integration: Collaborate with technology teams to address and resolve data integration exceptions, ensuring seamless reconciliations with downstream systems.
- Historical Data Validation: Partner with stakeholders to validate historical temporal data, ensuring accurate backfilling for strategic builds and system migrations.
Qualifications/Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, or equivalent)
- Experience: 5-8 years of experience in financial services, with exposure to trading strategies, fund structures, and financial products
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in databases, data structures, and tools such as SQL, Excel, Tableau, or Power BI; familiarity with programming languages like Python, C#, or Java is a plus
- Data Governance Knowledge: Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data lineage, and data quality management principles
- Analytical Skills: Highly analytical with the ability to interpret large datasets, automate processes, and execute project plans effectively
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and present findings to stakeholders
- Adaptability and Organization: Self-starter with excellent organizational skills, capable of multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
