Data Governance and maintenance of BCBS 239 compliance

The incumbent will be responsible for a broad range of data management functions that span across regulatory reporting. The role entails maintaining regulatory reporting data and lineage in Collibra to ensure BCBS compliance. Data stewardship of regulatory reporting data in Axiom and Collibra is also part of the job responsibility. The incumbent is expected to collaborate with data governance teams,
Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall deliverables of one or more large-scale data projects. Take ownership of data management framework deliverables such as identified CDEs, data glossary, data lineage, controls inventory and data controls monitoring.
  • Interact closely with upstream and downstream data partners.
  • Understand organizational context of data projects and be able to identify and engage relevant stakeholders to ensure that the data management framework is executed and data governance principles are upheld.
  • Participate/lead project level meetings with project stakeholders and team members demonstrate comfort facilitating groups at all levels.
  • Coordinate and lead overall data governance-related communications within domain, status reporting, risk management, and issue resolution
  • Manage and certify completion of data projects as laid out in the plan
  • As needed, contribute to and/or initiate and implement data management standards across the organization. Act as an active member of the data management community to contribute to the data management practice and mentor more junior members of the team.
  • Promote a collaborative cross-business environment that fosters adherence to sound data governance principles
  • Contribute to enhancing data governance framework, tools and data best practices
  • Maintain effective internal controls and implement corrective actions to address any process or control deficiencies. Maintain a culture of constant improvement within data teams.
  • Act in accordance with Risk Excellence and role model Ethical behavior and decision making as part of our Way Ahead foundation

Qualifications / Skills Requirements:

  • 12+ years job related/industry experience in financial services or consulting in a data management role overseeing business and/or technology data initiatives and interacting with a diverse stakeholder group
  • Expertise in Collibra application
  • Proven ability to translate conceptual ideas into key data management deliverables e.g., business glossaries, data lineage, data controls, etc.
  • Ability to facilitate diverse and sometimes conflicting points of view to build consensus and agree go-forward direction on topics like project scope, issues resolution, resource balancing, and prioritization/work timing.
  • Comfortable in ambiguous situations and able to bring clarity to complex challenges for both team members and stakeholders
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required, advance degree preferred
  • Excellent management and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, collaboration,and expectations management skills
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, architecture and management principles is preferred
  • Strong relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, and Word required
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Excellent communication and writing skills required
