Data Engineer - Python

We're hiring a Python Developer to join a growing Alpha Data team working at the intersection of data, research, and technology.

This role sits very close to quant researchers and traders, so it's not just about writing clean Python code. It's about building reliable data pipelines that directly support research and alpha generation. The work has visibility and impact.

The team is responsible for delivering large volumes of data globally. That means ingestion pipelines need to be resilient, transformation jobs need to be maintainable, and data models need to be thoughtfully designed for efficient querying. There's also a strong focus on building reusable frameworks and tools that improve engineering quality and team productivity over time.

What you'll be doing:

• Taking ownership of an expanding set of data pipelines
• Designing, implementing, testing, and optimizing pipelines, services, and frameworks
• Working closely with researchers to onboard and structure new datasets
• Contributing ideas that improve architecture, abstractions, and overall scalability
• Participating in production support during regular working hours

What we're looking for:

• 4+ years of strong Python development experience
• A Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
• Solid SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases (Postgres preferred)
• Practical experience working with data transfer protocols and tools such as FTP, SFTP, HTTP APIs, and AWS S3
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams

Nice to have:

• Experience with distributed systems, big data frameworks, or cloud environments
• Exposure to C++, kdb+/q, or Rust
