Data Engineer

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team and play a key role in building, optimizing, and managing data pipelines. You will work closely with Data Analysts and Business Functions to ensure seamless data processing, reporting, and dashboarding. Our tech stack includes BigQuery, Snowflake, Airflow, Stitch/Fivetran, dbt, and Tableau/Looker, with a cloud-first approach using AWS and some GCP.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize ETL and ELT pipelines while working with Data Analysts
• Design and implement scalable, automated processes for data extraction, processing, and analysis within a Data Mesh architecture
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
• Act as a subject matter expert for data technologies and solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to architecture and design
• Improve efficiency in data ingestion, transformation, and reporting workflows
• Translate business needs into technical solutions by designing data models and reports
• Perform exploratory data analysis and implement automated data quality checks
• Optimize data feeds and ensure timely data availability using Change Data Capture and other approaches
• Maintain data governance by enforcing best practices in data quality, testing, coding, and peer reviews
• Build Looker dashboards when required

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum four years of hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouse technologies
• Experience with dbt, Apache Airflow, Fivetran, AWS, Git, and Looker
• Strong SQL development skills with experience in query optimization and performance tuning
• Experience in data ingestion techniques using custom pipelines or SaaS tools like Fivetran
• Expertise in data modeling and optimization of existing or new data models
• Experience in data mining, ETL, and data warehousing solutions
• Familiarity with large-scale datasets in a business environment
• Knowledge of agile methodologies such as SCRUM
