Description

Come be a part of a rapidly expanding $50 billion-dollar global business on its trajectory to $100B. At Amazon Business, a fast-growing startup passionate about building solutions, we set out every day to innovate and disrupt the status quo. We stand at the intersection of tech, retail, and generative AI in the B2B space - developing innovative purchasing and procurement solutions to help businesses and organizations thrive. At Amazon Business, we strive to be the most recognized and preferred strategic partner for smart business buying. Bring your insight, imagination, and a healthy disregard for the impossible. Join us in building and celebrating the value of Amazon Business to buyers and sellers of all sizes and industries. Unlock your career potential.

The Amazon Business Flywheel Inputs (ABFI) Analytics team is looking for a Data Engineer to build our next-generation data platform - one that powers both traditional analytics and emerging generative AI experiences - and set us up for future growth. Amazon Business (AB) represents an incredible opportunity to address a vast new market segment and customer base for Amazon. We are focused on building solutions that enable B2B customers to find and buy products and services across multiple devices and marketplaces. Our team owns the data-driven decision making for key AB problems including price setting, selection expansion, operations optimization, and AI-powered customer experiences. Amazon Business is one of Amazon's fastest-growing business sectors. We need builders who can think big and turn bold vision into reality. Come work with us if you are results-driven, think big, and want to have fun making history.

As a Data Engineer, you will partner with Software Developers, Business Intelligence Engineers, Applied Scientists, and Product Managers to develop scalable and maintainable data pipelines across both structured and unstructured data - including datasets that feed large language models (LLMs) and conversational AI platforms. The ideal candidate has solid business judgment, depth of knowledge in data modeling and database architecture, strong written/documentation skills, experience with big data technologies (Spark/Hive, Redshift, EMR, and other AWS technologies), and a passion for leveraging generative AI tools to accelerate development velocity.

In this role, you will function as a data engineering thought leader and establish operating procedures in partnership with software engineering teams to capture optimal telemetry from existing and future product/feature launches. You will design ingestion architectures that efficiently integrate with the overarching Amazon Business Pricing, Selection, and Managed Spend data model - while ensuring data is structured, governed, and accessible for downstream AI/ML workloads. You will force-multiply your expertise across Scientists and BIEs in the org, and influence state-of-the-art data warehousing and orchestration mechanisms.

Key job responsibilities
Designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure to support our large and complex datasets using AWS Services and internal tools

Working with Scientists, Product Managers, BI Engineers, and Software Engineers to design, implement, and support source-of-truth data sources

Developing and optimizing robust ETL pipelines with comprehensive monitoring, alarming, and data quality controls

Building and scaling analytical data models that provide self-service access to data and flexibility to integrate datasets from multiple sources - including curated datasets for LLM training, evaluation, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workflows

Managing AWS resources, including exploring and learning the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increased efficiency
Force-multiplying engineering best practices and fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and AI-first development
