Job Overview:We are looking for a proactive Data Center Engineer with around 2 years of hands-on experience in server management, hardware troubleshooting, and day-to-day data center operations. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior engineers to ensure smooth functioning of our servers, racks, networking equipment, and infrastructure environment.
Key Responsibilities:1. Server & Hardware Management- Perform installation, racking, stacking, and cabling of servers and network devices.
- Conduct routine health checks of servers (CPU, RAM, disks, temperature).
- Replace faulty components (HDD/SSD, RAM, fans, power supplies).
- Assist in hardware provisioning for bare-metal deployments.
2. Network & Cabling Support- Support senior engineers in configuring switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Handle network patching, labelling, cable management, and documentation.
- Basic troubleshooting of connectivity issues (ping, traceroute, link checks).
3. Monitoring & Incident Handling- Monitor infrastructure alerts through monitoring tools.
- Respond to incidents and escalate to senior staff when necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and update service logs.
4. Data Centre Operations- Maintain proper environmental conditions (cooling, airflow, rack space).
- Follow security and access control procedures for the data center.
- Ensure uptime by following SOPs for planned and unplanned outages.
5. Documentation & Reporting- Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory and changes.
- Update ticketing systems for tasks, incidents, and change requests.
- Assist in creating SOPs for daily and emergency operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
- 12 years of experience in data centre, NOC, or IT infrastructure roles.
- Basic understanding of servers (Dell, HP, Supermicro preferred).
- Familiarity with Linux basics and command line (SSH, logs, basic commands).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (IP, VLANs, subnets).
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 25 kg) and work in DC environments.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with RAID configuration and disk management.
- Knowledge of remote management tools (iDRAC, IPMI, iLO).
- Exposure to monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, PRTG).
- Basic knowledge of virtualisation (Proxmox, VMware).
