About the Role:
As a Database Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team supporting the Tax Information Reporting Suite and Core Services data processing. In this role, you will design and optimize database solutions that power critical business applications. You'll work on data modeling, query optimization, performance tuning, and crossplatform database development across RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
You will collaborate closely with crossfunctional teams to support application development, database deployments, and production troubleshooting. What You Will Be Doing
- Design, develop, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and database objects across major RDBMS platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
- Build and optimize SQL queries, data access layers, and backend processing workflows.
- Investigate and resolve production issues, perform root cause analysis and implement long term fixes.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain backend services within the TIRS platform.
- Perform data modeling, schema design, normalization, and indexing to support application requirements and improve performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, query bottlenecks, and data integrity problems.
- Work with Development teams to support database changes, deployments, and version control in development and production environments.
- Utilize Unix/Linux commands for file handling, automation, logs, and running database tools/scripts.
- Support integration efforts, automation initiatives, and backend performance improvements.
- Follow coding standards, documentation practices, and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in SQL with the ability to write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex queries, stored procedures, functions, and database objects.
- Hands-on experience with major RDBMS platforms such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, normalization, schema design, and indexing strategies to support scalable and highperformance applications.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving database performance issues, including query tuning and troubleshooting bottlenecks.
- Familiarity with working alongside development teams to support database changes, deployments, and version control processes across environments.
- Proficiency with Unix/Linux commands for file handling, automation, log analysis, and executing database scripts/tools.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with a proactive approach to learning new technologies and tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within crossfunctional teams and contribute to a positive, growthdriven work culture.
