Job Description

1. Context

To support analysis of large, long-term datasets collected across multiple years and systems at Arpan

2. Organogram

3. Key Objectives of the Job

The role requires strong technical skills and the ability to understand the underlying logic of complex, imperfect data and translate this into reliable analysis.

4. Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role, among others, are:

  • Clean, validate, and process large datasets that may be inconsistent, incomplete, or collected
  • using different formats over time
  • Understand the logic and structure of legacy and multi-source data, and document assumptions
  • clearly
  • Automate data cleaning, processing, and reporting workflows using Excel (including advanced
  • formulas, macros, and scripting) and Python
  • Work with data from multiple databases and integrate them for analysis
  • Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analysis
  • Interpret results logically and translate findings into clear insights for programme and research
  • teams

5. Specialized job competencies

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including automation, scripting, and macros
  • Strong Python coding skills for data cleaning and analysis
  • Experience working with multiple databases and long-term datasets
  • Demonstrated ability to identify data quality issues and resolve them systematically
  • Strong understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics
  • Ability to reason logically from data and explain analytical decisions clearly

6. EducationalQualification

  • Graduate-level coursework on statistics, econometrics, impact evaluation, and economic
  • development.
  • Masters's degree in any developmental, statistical, population studies.

7. Desired Experience

Experience working with programme or research data collected over multiple years

Ability to work independently and communicate findings clearly to non-technical teams
