Role: Senior Data QA Engineer (Analytics SQL Server & Power BI)
Location: Offshore (working with US stakeholders)

Hours: 3 PM IST to 11:30 PM IST
Mode: Hybrid 3 days onsite in Hyderabad
Role Summary
The Senior Data QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring end-to-end data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across the analytics ecosystem. This role works closely with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) Engineers and Power BI Developers to validate data pipelines, transformations, and business intelligence outputs, ensuring trusted, production-ready analytics in an Agile delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Data Quality & Validation
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across SQL Server analytics layers and Power BI datasets.
- Perform source-to-target reconciliation, data profiling, and exception analysis.
- Validate transformations, aggregations, and business rules implemented in T-SQL.
Power BI Testing & Validation
- Test Power BI datasets, semantic models, and dashboards.
- Validate KPIs, DAX measures, calculations, filters, slicers, drill-throughs, and visuals.
- Ensure alignment between SQL Server source data and Power BI outputs.
- Validate row-level security (RLS), access controls, and refresh behavior in Power BI Service.
SQL Server & Data Pipeline Validation
- Execute advanced T-SQL validation queries to verify fact and dimension tables.
- Validate batch and incremental data loads and historical data accuracy.
- Support testing of ETL/ELT pipelines feeding analytics layers.
Test Design, Automation & Release Support
- Create and maintain data test cases, validation scripts, and reconciliation queries.
- Support regression testing, UAT, and analytics release sign-off.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve data defects and prevent recurrence.
Agile Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Work closely with SQL, Power BI, and data engineering teams during delivery cycles.
- Communicate data quality risks, findings, and resolutions clearly to stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
Data QA & Analytics
- 5+ years of experience in Data QA / Analytics QA roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL for data validation.
- Experience testing Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (facts, dimensions, star schemas).
- Strong experience with data reconciliation, data quality checks, and exception handling.
Technical
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL validation queries.
- Experience validating DAX calculations and BI metrics.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools.
Soft Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking.
