About the Role
The BI Platforms Administrator will be responsible for end-to-end administration, governance, optimization, and enablement of BI platforms. This role requires strong technical expertise across Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and Tableau, along with experience in CI/CD, governance, security, and platform migrations. The candidate will closely partner with Data, Analytics, Security, and IT teams to ensure high-quality BI solutions and a robust analytics ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Platform Administration
- Administer Power BI Service, Microsoft Fabric, and Tableau Cloud (including any legacy Tableau Server)
- Manage workspaces/sites, projects, permissions, user access, RLS/OLS, certifications, refresh schedules, and gateways/bridges
- Migration & Transformation
- Lead Tableau Server → Tableau Cloud migration activities
- Perform content inventory, cleanup, permissions mapping, Tableau Bridge configuration, and cutover planning
- BI Development & Standards
- Build and review semantic models, datasets, dataflows, dashboards, and reports
- Define and enforce standards for data modeling, performance optimization, accessibility, and reusability
- DevOps & CI/CD
- Implement GitHub-based Power BI SDLC using .pbip
- Set up branching strategies, PR workflows, deployment pipelines, and GitHub Actions for automated deployments
- Monitoring & Operations
- Monitor platform capacity, usage, performance, and cost
- Troubleshoot production issues and incidents
- Build and publish admin, health, and adoption dashboards
- Governance & Security
- Partner with Security and IT teams on data governance, sensitivity labels, DLP, auditing, and compliance
- Manage identity, authentication, and SSO using Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Enablement & Collaboration
- Support analysts and business users through training, best practices, and documentation
- Act as a consultative partner for analytics teams across the organization
Qualifications
- Must-Have
- Strong Power BI administration and development experience (DAX, Power Query/M, dataflows, semantic models)
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric (capacities, workspaces, OneLake, Dataflows Gen2; Lakehouse/Warehouse awareness)
- Proven Tableau Cloud/Server administration and development experience
- Hands-on experience migrating Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud, including Tableau Bridge
- Experience with GitHub-based CI/CD for Power BI (.pbip)
- Strong understanding of RLS/OLS, data security, governance, and auditing
- Good to Have
- Power Platform exposure (Power Automate integrations, environment & DLP awareness)
- Automation & scripting skills using PowerShell or Python
- Experience working with Power BI / Tableau REST APIs
