This is a remote position.
As a Business Central Technical Consultant/Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting solutions in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environment using AL language and extensions. You'll work with business and functional teams to translate requirements into technical designs, build robust and scalable modules, and ensure optimal performance and maintainability. This is a hands-on role requiring strong development expertise, integration knowledge, and a passion for delivering impactful business solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business requirements and work with functional consultants to define technical specifications.
- Design, develop, test, deploy and support AL-based extensions in Business Central.
- Customise and extend standard Business Central functionality (tables, pages, codeunits, reports, APIs) using AL language.
- Integrate Business Central with other systems and services (e.g., web services, REST/OData, Azure Functions).
- Perform code reviews, write technical documentation, and adhere to development standards/best practices.
- Troubleshoot and optimise existing Business Central implementations: performance tuning, cleaning up customisations, ensuring upgrade readiness.
- Participate in upgrades, migrations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (functional consultants, QA, infrastructure) to deliver high-quality solutions.
Requirements
- Experience as a Business Central Technical Consultant/Developer or similar role implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central solutions.
- Hands-on expertise in AL language (extensions, event-driven architecture), Visual Studio Code, and development tools in the Business Central ecosystem.
- Solid understanding of Business Central functional processes (Finance, Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Warehouse) and how they map to the solution.
- Experience integrating Business Central with external systems/APIs/web services.
- Familiarity with deployment, extensions publishing, Business Central upgrade processes, and performance optimisation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team as well as autonomously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a dynamic, cross-functional team.
- Comfortable working as an independent contractor.
