Job summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Credit Underwriter to join our financial team. In this role, you will evaluate creditworthiness and make informed lending decisions based on a thorough analysis of financial data. Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse loan applications, financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents.
- Assess the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses by evaluating their financial history and current financial situation.
- Make recommendations for loan approvals, conditions, or denials based on established underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate with loan officers and other team members to gather necessary documentation and provide insights on credit decisions.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, lending policies, and best practices to ensure compliance.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation of underwriting decisions for internal and external review.
- Identify potential risks and communicate findings to management as necessary.
- Participate in training and professional development to enhance underwriting skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a credit underwriter or in a similar role within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, risk assessment, and lending practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using underwriting software and financial analysis tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Certification in credit underwriting (e.g., CUA, CMB) is a plus.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
