About Walnut Advertising

Walnut is a creative-led advertising and marketing communications agency headquartered in Mumbai. We believe in delivering More Craft per Art combining strategic rigour with bold creative thinking to build brands that resonate. Our portfolio spans integrated campaigns, digital marketing, brand identity, content creation, and media planning across categories including FMCG, healthcare, automotive, technology, and real estate.

Role Overview

The Creative Proofreading & Quality Executive is the last line of defence before any creative work leaves the agency. This role exists to ensure that every artwork, layout, adaptation, and production file meets Walnut's standards of accuracy and finish. You will quality-check all production output catching spelling errors, font inconsistencies, colour mismatches, alignment issues, incorrect copy, missing elements, and the dozens of small details that can slip through when teams are working at speed. The role demands an obsessive eye for detail and the temperament to flag errors without exception, regardless of deadlines or pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough quality checks on all production creatives, artworks, adaptations, and final output files before they are dispatched to clients, media, or print vendors.
  • Verify textual accuracy across all materials spelling, grammar, punctuation, phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, disclaimers, legal copy, pricing, and offer details. Zero tolerance for typographical errors.
  • Check visual elements including logo usage (size, placement, clear space, colour), font consistency, colour accuracy (CMYK/RGB/Pantone as applicable), image resolution, bleed, trim, and safe zone compliance.
  • Cross-reference all production output against approved client briefs, brand guidelines, and copy decks to ensure nothing has been missed, altered, or misinterpreted during execution.
  • Maintain a structured QC checklist for each project type (print, digital, OOH, packaging, social media) and ensure every deliverable passes through this checklist before sign-off.
  • Flag errors and inconsistencies to the production team and designers with clear, specific annotations. Follow up to confirm corrections have been made and re-check revised files.
  • Review adaptations and resizes to ensure all elements have been correctly scaled, repositioned, and reformatted without distortion, cropping errors, or missing components.
  • Check print-ready files for technical compliance correct file formats, colour profiles, resolution, bleed marks, and slug information.
  • Maintain a log of recurring errors and quality issues, and share periodic reports with the Production Studio Manager to identify patterns and drive process improvements.
  • Support the production team during high-volume periods by prioritising QC tasks based on dispatch deadlines without compromising thoroughness.

What We Look For

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a production, quality control, or proofreading role within an advertising agency, design studio, printing house, or publishing environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail: the kind of person who notices a misaligned element by two pixels, a missing full stop, or a slightly off-brand shade of blue.
  • Strong command of English spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Familiarity with Hindi and regional language copy checking is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) enough to open, inspect, and annotate files, even if not at a designer's proficiency level.
  • Understanding of print production specifications: CMYK vs RGB, resolution requirements, bleed and trim, file formats (PDF/X, EPS, TIFF, etc.).
  • Familiarity with digital creative specifications for social media platforms, web banners, and email templates.
  • A methodical and process-driven approach. You work from checklists, not memory.
  • The ability to work under tight deadlines without letting speed compromise accuracy. In fact, pressure should sharpen your focus, not dilute it.
  • Good communication skills to articulate errors clearly and constructively to designers and production artists.
  • Graduate in any discipline. A background in mass communication, visual arts, or print technology is preferred but not mandatory.
