Roles & Responsibilities:
A Design Lead is a senior design professional who provides leadership and creative direction to a design team. They are responsible for overseeing design projects, setting design standards, and ensuring that the team produces innovative, user-centric, and visually appealing design solutions that align with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of designers, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities to help team members excel in their roles
- Design Strategy: Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to develop and refine design strategies that align with business objectives and user needs
- Project Oversight: Oversee the entire design process, from concept to execution, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards
- Creative Direction: Set the creative direction for design projects, providing clear design goals and expectations to the team
- Design Standards: Establish and maintain design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency and a unified brand identity across all design materials and products
- User-Centered Design: Ensure that design solutions are user-centric, conducting or overseeing user research and usability testing to inform design decisions
- Design Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, to understand project requirements and ensure design solutions meet business objectives
- Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the creation of design prototypes and the testing of design concepts to ensure they align with user expectations and needs
- Feedback Incorporation: Act on feedback from stakeholders and users, and guide the team in iterating on designs to continually improve the final product
- Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices to guide the team in making informed design decisions
This Role Requires:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design, UX Design, or a related field
- Extensive experience in the design field, with a strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of design projects and design leadership roles
- Proficiency in design software and tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or others relevant to the design field
- Strong leadership, management, and team-building skills with a proven track record of leading and developing design teams
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey design concepts and strategies to various stakeholders
- A deep understanding of design principles, user-centered design, and best practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about design challenges
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality design work
- Adaptability to changing project requirements and timelines
