Barefoot Counsellor (BFC) plays a key role in supporting scholars by providing academic, emotional, behavioral, and life-skills counselling. Operating as a trusted mentor (not a trainer or assessor), the BFC creates a safe, non-judgmental environment to help scholars transition from adolescence to responsible, corporate-ready professionals.

About the Role

The Barefoot Counsellor (BFC) plays a key role in supporting scholars by providing academic, emotional, behavioral, and life-skills counselling.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual, group, induction, and proactive counselling sessions for scholars.
• Provide academic, career, emotional, and behavioral guidance through empathetic engagement.
• Identify and resolve emotional, family, cognitive, and social issues affecting performance.
• Foster ethical values, discipline, resilience, and social responsibility.
• Deliver proactive life-skills sessions covering stress management, communication, grooming, and workplace readiness.
• Support scholars during critical personal situations with confidentiality and sensitivity.
• Motivate scholars to adapt to corporate culture and build confidence as future professionals.
• Collaborate with training and program teams while remaining independent of assessment and evaluation.

Qualifications

Experience in counselling, psychology, social work, education, mentoring, or youth development.

Required Skills

• Strong counselling, mentoring, and empathetic listening skills.
• High emotional intelligence, integrity, and discretion.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Non-judgmental, patient, and approachable demeanor.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with students or early-career learners is an advantage.
