About the Role
MGT is seeking highly skilled Copy Editors to support the development of highquality K12 instructional materials. This hourly, global contractor role requires exceptional fluency in English, strong mastery of grammar and style conventions (Chicago Manual of Style), and a meticulous approach to producing errorfree content.
Ideal candidates will have experience editing educational materials and be comfortable working within tight timelines and fastpaced production cycles. You'll play a critical role in ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and consistency of our final deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit written content to ensure full grammatical accuracy following Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) conventions.
- Apply MGT's internal style and branding guidelines (along with the client's style and branding guidelines, when applicable) consistently across all materials.
- Review instructional materialslessons, assessments, teacher guides, alt-text, student-facing textto ensure they are error-free, wellstructured, and clear.
- Correct issues related to grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, clarity, and tone.
- Ensure internal consistency across large volumes of content (headings, terminology, formatting, instructions, labels, etc.).
- Flag potential content issues or inconsistencies for writers, designers, and curriculum developers.
- Work efficiently under tight timelines while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Exceptional fluency in English, including grammar, usage, and mechanics.
- Mastery of English grammar rules and Chicago Manual of Style standards.
- Ability to edit quickly and accurately within fast-paced workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing errorfree work.
- Ability to pass a standard copy edit test.
Preferred Experience
- Experience copy editing educational materials, especially curriculum or instructional content.
- Understanding of K12 educational context or terminology (K5 experience is a plus).
- Experience working with style guides, editorial checklists, and version-controlled documents.
- Comfort working within digital editing platforms (Google Suite, Word, Adobe PDF markup tools, etc.).
