Role Overview
The Marketing Team Lead Content & Merchant Communications will lead the creation and execution of high-impact content that drives merchant engagement, product adoption, and brand consistency across Paytm's merchant ecosystem. The role will focus on developing compelling content across lifecycle communication channels including email, in-app, push notifications, landing pages, and marketing campaigns.
This role requires a strong storyteller who can translate complex fintech products, regulatory updates, and platform features into clear, engaging, and merchant-friendly content, while collaborating closely with product, marketing, and design teams.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Development
- Lead the content strategy for merchant communications across lifecycle marketing channels.
- Create compelling and clear content for email campaigns, in-app messaging, push notifications, landing pages, and banners.
- Develop merchant-focused narratives and storytelling that simplify complex fintech products and solutions.
- Build and maintain a consistent brand voice across all merchant communication touchpoints.
- Own the content calendar aligned with product launches, campaigns, and regulatory communication needs.
Campaign & Lifecycle Content
- Design and execute content for merchant lifecycle journeys, including:
- Merchant onboarding
- Product adoption
- Feature launches
- Engagement campaigns
- Regulatory and compliance updates
- Support go-to-market product launches with clear and impactful messaging.
- Develop moment marketing and engagement content to improve merchant interaction and product awareness.
Content Optimization & Performance
- Work with marketing and analytics teams to optimize content performance based on campaign metrics.
- Continuously improve messaging through A/B testing, content experiments, and engagement insights.
- Ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across all communication assets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams to translate technical updates and product features into merchant-friendly communication.
- Partner with design teams to produce high-quality creatives including email templates, banners, landing pages, and campaign assets.
- Work with marketing automation teams to deploy content across communication platforms such as CleverTap.
Brand & Channel Management
- Maintain content standards, tone of voice, and messaging guidelines across marketing channels.
- Support website content updates and product page messaging.
- Ensure all communications align with brand guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Guide and mentor team members on content development, storytelling, and messaging frameworks.
- Establish scalable processes for content production, review, and approval workflows.
- Act as the central owner for merchant communication content across teams.
Key Skills & Experience
Experience
- 4+ years of experience in Content Marketing, Marketing Communications, or Lifecycle Marketing.
- Experience in Fintech, B2B, SaaS, or Payments industry preferred.
Content Expertise
- Strong content writing, storytelling, and messaging skills.
- Experience creating engaging marketing copy for digital channels.
- Ability to simplify technical and product-heavy information into clear communication.
Tools & Platforms
- Experience with:
- CleverTap or similar marketing automation tools
- Email marketing platforms
- CMS tools
- CRM platforms
