Role Overview
We are seeking a Fundamental Commodities Analyst to join our institutional research team. The role will focus on in-depth fundamental analysis of key traded commodities, with a primary emphasis on precious metals and other globally traded commodities. The analyst will support institutional clients with high-quality research, trade ideas, and market insights grounded in supply–demand dynamics, macroeconomics, and policy developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental research on major commodities including gold and other precious metals; expand coverage as required to energy or industrial commodities.
- Develop detailed supply–demand balance models, cost curves, inventory analysis, and medium- to long-term price outlooks.
- Analyze the impact of macroeconomic trends, global monetary policy, interest rates, currency movements, geopolitics, and regulatory developments on commodity prices.
- Track and interpret key data indicators such as production trends, consumption patterns, trade flows, central bank activity, and positioning data.
- Publish institutional-grade research reports, thematic notes, forecasts, and client-ready presentations.
- Generate actionable trade ideas and investment themes aligned with client requirements and market conditions.
- Participate in client interactions, calls, and presentations with domestic and global institutional investors.
- Collaborate with sales, trading, and strategy teams to ensure timely market updates and idea dissemination.
- Monitor global events and policy announcements for their implications on commodity markets.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in commodities research, strategy, or analysis at an institutional brokerage, investment bank, research house, or similar environment.
- Strong grounding in fundamental commodity analysis, particularly precious metals.
- Clear understanding of global commodity markets, pricing mechanisms, and macro-financial linkages.
- Proven ability to write clear, concise, and data-driven research for sophisticated institutional clients.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills; ability to work with large datasets and economic indicators.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Strong undergraduate degree with CFA or progress toward CFA qualification.
- Exposure to derivatives markets, futures positioning, or global commodities flows.
- Experience interacting directly with institutional investors or hedge funds.
