Chair Professor – Dr. K. Ram Chair for Gramothan in Rajasthan

1. Role Summary
The Chair Professor will provide academic and research leadership in the domain of Rural
Development and Gramothan (Rural Transformation), with special reference to Rajasthan.
The position aims to strengthen VGU's research ecosystem, policy engagement, and field-
based rural initiatives.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop research initiatives under the Dr. K. Ram Chair for Gramothan.
- Undertake high-quality research focused on rural transformation in Rajasthan.
- Publish in reputed peer-reviewed journals and contribute to policy-oriented research.
- Mobilize external research funding from national and international agencies.
- Guide Ph.D. scholars and mentor faculty members.
- Design and deliver specialized courses/electives related to rural development.
- Organize conferences, seminars, FDPs, and policy dialogues.
- Develop collaborations with government departments, NGOs, CSR bodies, and
research institutions.
- Contribute to institutional rankings, accreditation, and academic visibility of VGU.
3. Eligibility Criteria Essential:
- Ph.D. in Rural Development / Development Studies / Economics / Public Policy /
Agriculture / Social Sciences or allied disciplines.
- Qualification and experience as per UGC norms for the post of Professor.
- Minimum 10–15 years of teaching/research experience.
- Strong publication record in reputed journals.
Desirable:
- Experience in handling funded research projects.
- Experience in policy advisory or rural field engagement.
- Prior leadership of academic centers or research initiatives.
4. Expected Deliverables (Indicative)
- Minimum 2 quality research publications annually.
- Submission of at least one externally funded research proposal per year.
- Organization of at least one major academic event annually.
- Development of at least one field-based rural initiative/project in Rajasthan.
5. Tenure
- Initial appointment for 3–5 years, extendable based on performance review.
