Job Overview
Leading and Managing the Technical Team, the Technical Manager RMX / Concrete will be fundamental in providing the directive for the provision of a range of quality assured products to our customers, working towards minimal remedial issues to maximise profit margin whilst driving optimisation with mix designs, manufacturing processes and laboratory standardisation, offering technical guidance to the wider business. Along with this the person will be a leader and mentor to for his team.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Monitoring and maintaining testing frequency of outgoing concrete and incoming concrete materials as per the issued ITP.
- Conducting trial mixes for admixture, cement and materials appraisals.
- Creation of mix codes and sale order in Tally as per the given MDSD/ specification by the customer based on the purchase order issued.
- Monitoring preventive maintenance of batching plant/ diesel generator/ Air compressor/ pump.
- Checking and signing the registers maintained by the production officers.
- Ensure slump/ yield tests are done for the first vehicle of each job by the production officers.
- Monitoring consistency of concrete batched (slump test) by the production officers, witnessing minimum one test at plant or at site and signing the same.
- Managing/ Assigning duties and responsibilities to production officers, laboratory technicians, and customer support officers.
- Ensure stock level of materials at the batching plant for production of concrete.
- Health and safety and induction of workmen at plant and site and maintaining the records for the same.
- Ensure good housekeeping in and around the plant.
- Attending and solving customer complaints.
- Monitoring job schedules by the site office and give inputs for timely starting and operational issues at site.
- Checking of batch records of daily batched concrete and signing the same.
- Ensure calling customers for concrete compressive strength testing and issuing reports for the same.
- Site visit and meeting the customer during the day s job operation and witnessing slump test and cube casting.
- Ensuring daily/ weekly/ monthly stock take and preparing the stock report.
- Ensure the signed invoices are collected and compiled for the days job.
- Any other job assigned by the reporting manager.
- Have a proven track record of successful people management, management of technical operations, delivering projects and managing budgets.
- Responsible for entire region technical issue and challenges.
- Promoting the technical management system, ensuring the application of technical procedures, methods and best practices.
- Lead, manage, coach, mentor and develop a team of technicians, optimising engagement and overall team performance; through defining and agreeing expected performance indicators for on-going personal and professional development.
- Lead in resolving complex technical issues or failures as they arise; whether directly or by supporting operational teams.
- Continuous review of processes and performance, identifying gaps, root causes and subsequent improvement activity.
- Manage and develop third party relationships, ensuring effective contracts are in place and demonstrate best value.
- Ensure that Health & Safety is the number one priority at all levels of the team.
- Responsible for optimising the sampling and testing processes/procedures to ensure maximum effectiveness for the products and for resourcing.
- Stay informed with technological advancements, regularly benchmarking against competitors strategy to ensure our levels of innovation remain top.
- Ensure full compliance with the relevant regulatory body and accreditation guidelines as well as keeping all other systems and processes within company policies and statutory requirements.
- Optimise the cost of production effectively and maintaining the quality standard.
- Zero tolerance in terms of quality control.
Qualifications
- B.Tech in Civil
- Proven work experience of minimum 10-15 years in ready mix concrete industry.
- Challenge people, hold them accountable for job completion and quality of completion.
- Strongly Computer literate - familiarity with computer software (word, excel, etc)
- Good communication skills, with a positive, proactive can - do attitude to your team and others.
