We are seeking a Cloud Engineer with hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design, build, and manage scalable cloud-native applications with a strong focus on NoSQL databases and data ingestion pipelines.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing data systems using Cloud Firestore, building serverless ingestion layers using Cloud Run, and optimizing application performance through effective caching strategies. This role also involves managing and enhancing existing GCP infrastructure to support evolving business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
GCP Data Engineering & NoSQL Management
- Design, implement, and manage NoSQL database solutions using Cloud Firestore.
- Ensure efficient data modeling, storage, and retrieval for high-performance applications.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, scalability, and cost.
Data Ingestion & Processing
- Develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines to pull data into the GCP ecosystem.
- Build and deploy serverless ingestion services using Cloud Run and related GCP services.
- Ensure data integrity, reliability, and efficient processing of large datasets.
Application Caching & Performance Optimization
- Design and implement application-level caching layers to improve system performance.
- Optimize data access patterns and reduce latency through caching strategies.
- Work with tools such as Redis or in-memory caching solutions where applicable.
Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Manage and maintain existing applications deployed on GCP.
- Expand and enhance current cloud infrastructure to meet new functional and scalability requirements.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of cloud-based applications.
Automation & DevOps
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Deployment Manager.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline cloud operations and deployments.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions using GCP-native or third-party tools.
- Ensure proactive issue resolution and continuous system improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Proven experience working with NoSQL databases, specifically Cloud Firestore or similar.
- Experience building serverless applications using Cloud Run or equivalent services.
- Strong understanding of data ingestion architectures and pipelines.
- Experience implementing application caching strategies (e.g., Redis, in-memory caching).
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (Python, Node.js, or similar).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other GCP services such as Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, or BigQuery.
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of cloud security and identity management.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6 - 8 years of experience in cloud engineering or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with GCP-based application development and infrastructure management.
