Profile Summary:
The AM/DY Manager –Execution (Civil) will be responsible for overseeing the estimation, planning, execution, and successful delivery of gas power plant in Africa. This role requires leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safety and compliance, optimizing project execution processes, and meeting timelines and budget requirements. Strong experience in working and managing cross-functional teams and consultants is mandatory.
The position will be based in Africa and will require close work with local teams.
Key Responsibilities:
International Project Execution & Coordination
- Review, discuss, optimize and implement project execution plan
- Monitor project progress by supervising sub-contractors, main contractor and project management consultant. Identify and mitigate execution risks to avoid delays or cost overrun.
- Develop detailed project execution plans, schedules, and budgets; ensure alignment with approved project schedule
- Liaise effectively between EPC contractors, Subcontractors, PMC consultants, and the Owner's team to ensure smooth Civil project execution.
- Coordinate and monitor progress of all the civil works for gas turbine gas turbine generator foundation, Gas Compressor Foundations, HRSG Boiler Foundations, STG Foundations, Control room buildings, Cooling towers, and misc. civil works of the buildings, facilities of power plant
- Manage team of junior support staff and cross functional project team on site.
- Review of quality of construction, construction schedule, HSE Compliance of contractors
Mechanical Section Execution Monitoring & Control
- Review and approve execution plans, method statements, risk assessments, and work permits submitted by EPC pertaining to all the civil works and foundations
- Monitor installation, testing, and commissioning activities of Civil and building constructions, foundation works for all the power plant equipment (GTG, STG, HRSG, Cooling Tower)
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all civil works conform to project specifications, drawings, and international standards (AASHTO, ASTM, IS codes, etc.).
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures and inspection test plans (ITPs) as per project requirements.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures, site inspections, and material testing.
- Review and approve quality documentation including test reports, NCRs, and corrective action plans
- Participate in inspections, FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities to verify compliance.
- Report and manage non-conformances and corrective actions in coordination with EPC and PMC.
Project Reporting & Documentation
- Provide timely and accurate progress reports, technical updates, and risk assessments to stakeholders.
- Ensure all Civil documentation, drawings, certificates, and manuals are submitted and approved as per contract. Lead technical meetings, resolve escalated civil issues, and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Ensure timely submission of as-built drawings, completion certificates, and project closeout documents
- Maintain detailed records of site activities, inspections, and meetings.
Stakeholder & Team Management
- Facilitate regular coordination meetings between EPC, PMC, and Owner teams.
- Mentor and guide Civil engineers and inspectors as part of the Owner's team on-site.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Enforce strict compliance with HSE standards and site safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and promote a culture of safety within all teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or related discipline
- 8-10 years of experience in Civil execution in power plant projects, preferably gas-fired power plants of 40/200 MW+.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale power plant projects.
- Strong knowledge of gas turbine technology, combined cycle power plant operations, and related safety standards.
- Proven experience in international project execution, EPC monitoring, and working with PMC teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
- Deep knowledge of Civil systems: switchboard foundation, GTG/STG transformers foundation, HRSG foundation, GTG/STG foundation, Drainage network etc.
- Experience with international standards IEC, IEEE, NEC, AASHTO, ASTM, ANSCI codes and quality management systems.
