Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Design:
- Oversee the design, planning, and execution of civil engineering projects under cost-plus contracts.
- Ensure that all civil engineering designs, specifications, and drawings meet the required standards and comply with relevant codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with the design team to provide technical input on the project's overall structure, materials, and construction methods.
- Work closely with architects, other engineers, and consultants to ensure a cohesive project approach.
Cost Estimation & Budget Management:
- Develop accurate cost estimates for the civil engineering aspects of the project, taking into account material, labor, and other resources.
- Continuously monitor project costs and expenditures, ensuring that the costs align with the cost-plus contract structure.
- Review project financial performance regularly, ensuring that cost overruns are minimized and appropriately managed.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
- Track all changes in scope or design, making sure that any cost adjustments are documented and properly accounted for.
Contract Management:
- Manage and administer cost-plus contracts, ensuring adherence to contract terms, including cost reporting, invoicing, and payments.
- Maintain clear and transparent documentation regarding project costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
- Collaborate with the client and internal teams to handle any contract modifications or changes in scope, ensuring that the cost-plus agreement terms are followed.
- Ensure that all project costs are accurately documented, and that the client is kept informed of project status, including potential cost adjustments.
Project Execution & Site Management:
- Supervise construction activities on-site to ensure adherence to plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Provide technical guidance to construction teams and contractors, resolving any engineering or design issues that arise during construction.
- Monitor project timelines and ensure that the project is completed within the agreed schedule while managing the cost structure effectively.
- Oversee site safety, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safety-first culture on-site.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure that all aspects of the project are executed according to quality standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform regular site inspections to monitor the quality of work, ensuring that construction meets the established standards.
- Oversee any necessary testing or inspection procedures, ensuring that corrective actions are taken promptly in case of non-compliance.
- Ensure that all necessary permits, licenses, and approvals are in place before work begins and are maintained throughout the project.
Client & Stakeholder Relations:
- Act as the primary point of contact for the client regarding civil engineering aspects of the project.
- Provide regular updates to the client on project progress, costs, and any potential changes to the scope or schedule.
- Address client concerns and feedback promptly, ensuring that the project meets the client's needs and expectations.
- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams, ensuring that collaboration runs smoothly throughout the project.
Risk Management & Problem Resolution:
- Identify potential risks related to the civil engineering aspects of the project and develop mitigation strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical or construction-related issues as they arise to prevent delays and additional costs.
- Ensure that any changes in the scope or unforeseen issues are documented, and costs are tracked appropriately within the cost-plus framework.
- Ensure that appropriate steps are taken to minimize disruptions and resolve conflicts efficiently.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of project documentation, including contracts, budgets, cost estimates, invoices, and project changes.
- Provide regular reports on project status, cost-to-completion, and any adjustments to the budget or timeline.
- Ensure that all project changes are properly documented and communicated to the client and other stakeholders.
- Maintain a detailed record of expenses and ensure that cost reporting aligns with the cost-plus contract.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. A Master's degree in a relevant field or Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on cost-plus contracts and managing construction projects. Experience in budgeting, cost estimation, and contract administration is essential.
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. Any relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, APMP) will be an advantage.

Desirable Skills:
- Proficiency with Construction Management Software: Experience with software tools such as Procore, Buildertrend, or similar construction management platforms.
- Familiarity with Industry Standards & Codes: Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices for civil engineering projects.
- Cost Estimation Software: Familiarity with tools like Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, or other cost estimation platforms.
