Role- City Head Retail FMCG

Role Overview
The City Head will be responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end FMCG operations for the city. This role requires strong expertise in merchant onboarding, order growth, P&L ownership, and market insights to drive sustainable business success. The ideal candidate must have deep knowledge of the Gurgaon market and extensive experience in the FMCG or merchant-acquisition domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Merchant Acquisition & Engagement
- Lead the onboarding of retail merchants across the city and ensure active participation on the platform.
- Build strong relationships with retailers to drive consistent order flow.
- Execute strategies to enhance merchant engagement, retention, and productivity.
- Business Growth & Target Achievement
- Own the overall city business targets and create actionable plans to achieve them.
- Drive order growth through effective sales strategies, team leadership, and merchant network expansion.
- Monitor performance metrics and ensure consistent achievement of weekly/monthly KPIs.
- Warehouse & P&L Ownership
- Take complete ownership of the warehouse P&L and ensure operational efficiency.
- Optimize costs, streamline processes, and ensure smooth coordination between supply chain, warehouse, and field teams.
- Ensure proper inventory management, order fulfilment accuracy, and operational compliance.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Gather insights from the local market, competition, customer behavior, and merchant needs.
- Translate insights into actionable strategies that contribute to city-level growth.
- Identify new opportunities, product demands, and operational improvements.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and mentor the city sales and operations teams.
- Ensure high performance, goal alignment, and capability building across the team.
- Data & Analytics
- Work effectively with data to understand performance trends and identify opportunities.
- Must have strong Excel skills and the ability to analyze and interpret business data.
- Use data-driven insights to support decision-making and performance improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Category Team to ensure alignment on product strategy, pricing, and assortment.
- Coordinate with supply chain, finance, and central teams to ensure seamless execution of city plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 1015 years of experience in FMCG sales, merchant onboarding, retail distribution, or related domains.
- Strong understanding of the Gurgaon retail and FMCG market.
- Proven track record of achieving business targets and managing large operational teams.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business acumen with experience in managing P&L.
- Ability to drive execution with ownership, speed, and data-based decision-making.
