Responsibilities

The main role of a choreographer is to create and teach dance routines. They can teach these to students for a musical or to dancers for a movie song. It depends on where they are employed either freelancing in schools, a company or a production house. Some of the basic responsibilities are:

To design dance routines or add to preexisting dance forms by incorporating new dance styles
To teach the sequence of steps to dancers either through vocal instructions or by demonstrating to them.
To choose suitable music to gel with the dance forms
To organize and supervise auditions before selecting dancers for the performance
