Position Title: Chief Warden

Role Summary:
The Chief Warden is responsible for the overall administration, discipline, safety, and welfare of students residing in the university hostels. The role ensures a safe, inclusive, and conducive residential environment that supports students academic and personal development, in compliance with university policies and statutory guidelines.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Hostel Administration & Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day functioning of all hostels (boys and girls, if applicable).
- Ensure proper allocation of rooms, maintenance of hostel infrastructure, and adherence to occupancy norms.
- Coordinate with housekeeping, security, catering, and maintenance teams for smooth hostel operations.
- Approve and monitor hostel budgets, expenses, and resource utilization.
Student Discipline & Welfare
- Enforce hostel rules, regulations, and code of conduct.
- Address student grievances related to hostel facilities, safety, food, discipline, and living conditions.
- Take appropriate disciplinary action in cases of misconduct, in consultation with university authorities.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive residential environment.
Safety, Security & Compliance
- Ensure implementation of safety and security measures, including CCTV surveillance, access control, and emergency protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of hostel facilities for hygiene, safety, and statutory compliance.
- Coordinate with internal committees (ICC, Anti-Ragging Committee, Grievance Redressal Committee) as required.
- Ensure compliance with UGC, local authority, and university guidelines related to student housing.
Coordination & Leadership
- Supervise and guide Wardens, Assistant Wardens, and hostel staff.
- Conduct regular meetings with wardens to review operations and address issues.
- Act as a liaison between students, parents/guardians, hostel staff, and university administration.
Student Engagement & Development
- Encourage co-curricular, cultural, and community-building activities within hostels.
- Support student leadership initiatives and promote responsible citizenship among residents.
- Handle emergency situations involving students and coordinate timely response and communication.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in any discipline (Ph.D. preferred for academic institutions).
- Prior experience as Warden / Assistant Warden / Administrative role in a university or residential institution.
- Strong understanding of student welfare, discipline management, and hostel administration.
