Chief Sub Editor- News (English)

We are seeking a Chief Sub Editor to join the Jagran English World team. The ideal candidate should have a strong command of the English language, deep knowledge of international affairs, and proven experience in editing and refining world news content. As a Chief Sub Editor, you will work closely with the Editor and newsroom team, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and engaging content that meets editorial standards.

Responsibilities:

- Edit, refine, and proofread world news articles, ensuring accuracy, clarity, grammar, and adherence to the publication's style.

- Exhibit strong editorial judgment and the ability to write succinct, objective, and accurate content under tight deadlines.

- Verify facts, statistics, and sources to maintain credibility and consistency.

- Translate and adapt Hindi news stories into English while maintaining the original context.

- Rewrite or restructure content for improved readability and coherence.

- Ensure adherence to ethical journalism standards, avoiding plagiarism and ensuring copyright compliance.

- Mentor junior editors and writers, guiding them in improving content quality and editorial best practices.

- Collaborate with designers and multimedia teams to enhance storytelling through visuals.

- Stay updated with global affairs, geopolitical trends, and emerging news to contribute to impactful coverage.

- Assist in developing editorial policies, standards, and workflows for efficient content production.

- Conduct final reviews of content before publication to ensure editorial excellence.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in journalism, communications, international relations, or a related field.

- 5+ years of experience in editing and reporting world news.

- Deep knowledge of international affairs and global news trends.

- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail.

- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple stories simultaneously.

- Experience with digital publishing, SEO best practices, and content management systems.

- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide junior team members.

- Proficiency in editing tools, newsroom workflows, and fact-checking techniques.

- Familiarity with multimedia storytelling, infographics, and interactive content is a plus.
