We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemical Engr I to join our team at Sparta Systems. In this role, you will act as a Chief Process Advisor, providing crucial expertise and guidance to customers throughout the pre-commissioning, startup, and optimization phases of process units, ensuring smooth operations and successful performance.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Compare and evaluate specifications of supplied equipment against UOP documentation (Schedule A Package, P&IDs, Standard Specifications and Drawings) to identify and advise on potential problems before construction completion.
- Provide direction for the development and implementation of pre-commissioning programs, including hydrostatic testing, water flushing, leak testing, pump/compressor run-in, refractory dryout, and catalyst loading.
- Review and evaluate startup schedules, offering advice for improvements to ensure smooth and beneficial startups.
- Provide operating instructions to Operations and Engineering staff on UOP procedures for startup, normal operations, shutdown, and emergency situations.
- Advise on the daily operation of units post-startup, recommending adjustments to optimize performance.
- Establish process guidelines to prepare units for successful performance tests, verifying yield achievement.
- Conduct detailed unit studies, including calculations of product yields and catalyst activity/selectivity, to establish base conditions for troubleshooting and future planning.
- Issue daily instructions to shift-working Process Advisors in coordination with the customer's operations management.
Skills Requirement:
- Excellent understanding of process unit operations, from pre-commissioning to optimization.
- Strong analytical and evaluation skills for comparing technical specifications and identifying potential issues.
- Ability to provide clear operating instructions and advice on complex process procedures.
- Proficient in conducting detailed unit studies and performance test preparation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to advise and coordinate with customer teams and internal stakeholders.
- Problem-solving skills to avoid pitfalls during startup and address operational challenges.
QUALIFICATION:
- BE or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering.
