Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure products and materials comply with global chemical regulations (REACH, RoHS, TSCA, Prop 65, EU POPs, etc.)

Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into internal compliance actions

Track regulatory updates and assessing impact on product

Review raw materials, components, coatings, and packaging for restricted substances

Identify SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern) and other hazardous chemicals

Assess risks related to heavy metals, VOCs, formaldehyde, phthalates, PFAS, flame retardants, etc.

Recommend safer chemical or material alternatives

Support chemical aspects of certifications such as: BIFMA LEVEL / e3,GREENGUARD / Indoor air quality, LEED, WELL

Provide chemical data for customer sustainability requests

Handling FMD (Full materials disclosure sheet) or IMDS and Declare label.

Identify areas and opportunities for improvement and propose more sustainable practices to improve social and environmental performance.

Analyzing and interpreting data related to sustainability metrics, such as energy consumption, waste production, carbon emissions, and social impact indicators.

Perform continual assessments on emerging industry's best practices and regulations in product sustainability and advise HNI Workplace Furnishings team with potential improvement opportunities

Work Experience and Skills

Chemical Compliance Analyst ensures that products and materials meet global chemical regulations, restricted substance requirements, and environmental standards.ds.

7-10 years of experience in Materials & Product compliance topics.

Experience with corporate social responsibility, recyclable materials, environmental protection, and materials traceability preferred

Demonstrated understanding of product compliance standards and data related to qualification of products within standards

Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is essential

Knowledge of dashboard & reporting tools highly preferred

High degree of fluency in written and spoken English essential

Strong analytical skills, highly detail orientated, organized with a problem solving attitude.

Educational Qualification:

B.E. / B.Tech Chemical /Polymer/Metallurgy or Materials Engineering.
