Role Summary
We are seeking a
Chartered Accountant (CA) to support and manage core
finance, accounting, payroll, compliance, and reporting functions at Prescience. This role will work closely with
CXOs, senior leadership, HR, and operations teams to ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, smooth payroll and expense operations, and scalable finance processes aligned with the company's growth.
Key Responsibilities-
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Manage end‑to‑end accounting operations, including bookkeeping, journal entries, ledger scrutiny, and period‑end closures
- Assist in preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Support MIS reporting, variance analysis, and management dashboards for leadership review
- Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with Indian Accounting Standards
Payroll & Employee Financial Operations
- Oversee payroll processing, payroll accounting entries, and reimbursements in coordination with HR
- Ensure timely and accurate salary disbursements, statutory deductions, and employee payouts
- Manage expense reimbursement workflows, validations, approvals, and timely disbursal
- Assist in reconciliation of payroll, employee advances, reimbursements, and benefit-related accounts
- Working knowledge of HRMS for payroll, employee data, and compliance tracking will be an added advantage
Statutory Compliance & Audits
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, ESI, and other statutory requirements
- Prepare and file periodic returns and coordinate with consultants where required
- Support statutory audits, internal audits, and tax audits, including documentation and auditor coordination
- Assist with Companies Act compliance, ROC filings, and maintenance of statutory registers
Cash Flow, Controls & Operations
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and operational expenses
- Support vendor payments, invoice validation, and payment scheduling
- Assist in strengthening internal controls, finance SOPs, and process improvements
- Maintain documentation discipline for audits, reviews, and internal governance
Leadership & Cross‑
Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with CXOs and leadership on financial data, planning inputs, and reporting requirements
- Partner with HR on payroll planning, benefits cost tracking, and compliance matters
- Collaborate with operations and business teams to ensure financial alignment with projects and delivery
- Support fundraising, due diligence, and investor reporting activities, if required
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or CA (Inter) with Articleship completed
- 1–3 years of relevant experience (startup / tech / R&D / services environment preferred)
- Sound knowledge of Indian accounting standards, taxation, and statutory compliance
- Hands‑on experience with GST, TDS, payroll accounting, and statutory filings
- Proficiency in accounting software (Tally / HRMS payroll / ERP systems) and MS Excel
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and ownership mindset
- Capable of working independently in a fast‑paced and evolving startup environment
Good to Have
- Prior experience with startups, deep‑tech, SaaS, or R&D organizations
- Exposure to payroll systems, expense management tools, and HRMS platforms
- Interest in process improvement, controls, and finance automation
