Role Overview
We are looking for a Category Manager to drive growth, profitability, and customer experience for our Beauty & Personal Care portfolio. This role will own category P&L, product strategy, and execution across D2C website, marketplaces, and quick commerce channels.
Key Responsibilities
1. Category Strategy & P&L Ownership
- Own end-to-end category performance (revenue, margin, growth, inventory turns)
- Define category roadmap aligned with brand vision and market trends
- Identify growth opportunities through new product launches and range expansion.
2. Product & Portfolio Management
- Manage product lifecycle: ideation launch scale phase-out
- Work closely with R&D/branding teams on formulation, claims, and positioning
- Drive NPD (New Product Development) based on consumer insights, trends & competition.
3. Marketplace & Channel Management
- Optimize assortment across D2C website, Amazon, Nykaa, Flipkart, and quick commerce (Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart)
- Manage product listings, pricing, visibility, and content optimization
- Collaborate with marketplace teams for campaigns, deals, and promotions.
4. Pricing & Promotions
- Define pricing strategy across channels ensuring competitiveness and margin protection
- Plan and execute promotional calendars (sales, bundles, offers)
- Monitor discounting effectiveness and ROI
5. Demand Planning & Inventory
- Work with supply chain for demand forecasting and inventory planning
- Ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing aging and dead inventory
6. Data & Analytics
- Track key metrics: conversion, AOV, repeat rate, contribution margin
- Analyze consumer behavior, category trends, and competition
- Use data to drive decision-making and continuous optimization
7. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing, Performance, Supply Chain, and Customer Experience teams
- Align on campaigns, product launches, and GTM strategies
Qualifications & Skills
- MBA / Graduate in Business, Marketing, or related field
- 48 years experience in D2C, FMCG, Beauty, or Personal Care
- Strong analytical skills (Excel/Google Sheets; SQL is a plus)
- Experience handling marketplaces (Amazon, Nykaa preferred)
- Understanding of skincare trends, ingredients, and consumer behavior
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Preferred Profile
- Experience in launching skincare/beauty products
- Exposure to influencer-led or content-driven brands
- Familiarity with tools like Unicommerce, Shopify, or analytics dashboards
