About the team:

The Direct and Facultative Data and Analytics team offer a wide range of analytical support to the broking team in order to secure the best results for our clients. Typical analytical support includes data management, catastrophe modelling, exposure management, financial modelling, and bespoke analytics. The focus of our team is to provide brokers with a deeper understanding of their client's risk from natural and man-made perils such as windstorm, earthquake, severe convective storm, flood and wildfire.

Job Summary

In this role, the individual will work closely with Brokers in the Global Markets Direct and Facultative team to deliver market leading analytics. On a day-to-day basis, the individual will be involved in processing and auditing client data, running client portfolios against state-of-the-art catastrophe models, and synthesising the results. They will be required to take a methodical approach to problem solving and be proactive in meaningfully contributing to the success of Direct and Facultative team.

Principal Duties

  • Managing, auditing, processing and analysing portfolio data, preparing it for model ingestion.
  • Quantify the catastrophe risk using vendor catastrophe models.
  • Operation of geo-visualisation tools.
  • Understand and evaluate the impact of updates and revisions to models and the outputs produced.
  • Communicate results effectively to all stakeholders (i.e. cat modellers / brokers / clients/ (re)insurers).
  • Work closely with all stakeholders throughout the risk quantification process.
  • Real-time reporting and analysis of natural catastrophes.

  • Experience in at least one vendor model
  • Understanding of the underlying perils science and model components

  • Excellent Information technology skills, Power BI an advantage

Qualifications

Postgraduate

Knowledge

  • Experience working in catastrophe risk modelling
  • Good understanding of exposure data cleansing, portfolio modelling
  • Experience and working knowledge of Geographic information system (GIS) software, an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with SQL, R/Python an advantage
  • Experience with process optimisation
  • Ability to process and understand data quickly and creatively
  • Highly motivated to learn and grow within a global market leader
