Role Introduction
Reports to: Area Cargo Manager
Indirect reporting line: Regional Head of Cargo
To achieve and exceed the agreed Global and Trade sales targets through intelligent use of data. Continuously seek to acquire new business and establish Cathay Cargo in new markets, while proactively negotiating and managing existing Global and Trade accounts. The Account Manager is responsible for driving revenue generation from Key Global and Trade Accounts, developing and executing commercial strategies across responsible ports. The role provides commercial governance, including responsibility for digital initiatives, special product performance, cargo commercials, and acting as the port head.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth by acquiring new high‑value global and trade accounts through a structured, data‑led sales approach aligned to agreed targets and market priorities.
- Own the commercial performance of assigned global and trade accounts, building long‑term partnerships through consultative selling, regular business reviews and proactive opportunity identification.
- Design and execute port‑level cargo commercial strategies, translating regional and global objectives into customer‑specific agreements, incentive structures and yield optimisation actions.
- Grow revenue across special cargo products including pharmaceuticals, perishables, express, e‑commerce, valuables and live animals, supported by clearly defined targets and performance tracking.
- Actively manage portfolio quality by prioritising top‑revenue customers, improving revenue mix, and continuously reviewing the effectiveness of discount and incentive schemes.
- Provide timely market intelligence and competitive insights to pricing, network and regional stakeholders to support informed commercial and capacity decisions.
- Maintain strong commercial governance by managing contracts, tariffs, incentives and discount approvals in line with company policy, audit standards and compliance requirements.
- Lead the adoption of digital sales and cargo initiatives at port level, acting as the business lead for e‑booking, digital contracts, customer relationship management systems and performance dashboards.
- Champion change by driving LEAN initiatives, cost‑saving ideas and effective use of artificial intelligence tools to reduce manual processes and improve sales productivity.
- Collaborate closely with pricing, operations, finance and regional commercial teams to align execution, resolve revenue issues, and ensure seamless delivery for customers.
Requirements
- University degree or tertiary equivalent in a related discipline.
- Master of Business Administration or equivalent qualification in Business,
- Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field, preferred.
- Additional certification or diploma in logistics, supply chain management or aviation sales, preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of cargo, logistics or airline commercial experience with strong exposure to global account management and pricing or commercial strategy.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen with the ability to think strategically and execute at port and account level.
- Proven capability to influence and lead within a matrix and multicultural environment.
- Strong negotiation, relationship management, communication and presentation skills.
- High level of analytical capability with a data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
- Strong digital awareness and a transformation mindset, including adoption of new tools and ways of working.
- Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in India.
