Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior ABAP Developer with deep expertise in ABAP on HANA and modern SAP development paradigms.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing high-performance, future-proof applications and extensions, adhering strictly to the SAP Clean Core concept.
This role requires strong proficiency in the Restful Application Programming (RAP) model and a solid understanding of cloud-ready extensibility techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- High-Performance Development : Design, develop, and optimize complex business applications and reports utilizing advanced ABAP 7.5+ and ABAP for HANA features, including CDS Views, AMDPs (ABAP Managed Database Procedures), and new SQL syntax.
- RAP Implementation : Lead the development of OData services and Fiori applications using the Restful Application Programming (RAP) model, ensuring adherence to best practices for transactional processing and service exposure.
- Clean Core Adoption : Actively promote and enforce development standards that support the SAP Clean Core concept, minimizing modifications to the core SAP system and favoring standard APIs and public interfaces for extensions.
- Extensibility Architecture : Analyze business requirements and determine the appropriate approach for custom logic, prioritizing side-by-side extensibility (e.g., using SAP BTP) over classic in-app extensions.
- Troubleshooting and Optimization : Perform performance tuning and root cause analysis for ABAP programs and HANA artifacts to ensure optimal system speed and efficiency.
- Code Quality & Review : Participate in peer code reviews, mentor junior developers, and ensure all developed solutions are well-documented, scalable, and maintainable.
- Collaboration : Work closely with Functional Consultants and Business Analysts to translate functional specifications into robust technical designs.
Mandatory Skills And Qualifications
- ABAP on HANA Expertise : Strong hands-on experience in developing and optimizing applications specifically for the SAP HANA platform (ABAP 7.5+).
- Data Modeling : Proficiency in creating and utilizing CDS Views (Consumption, Interface, and Basic) for efficient data retrieval and exposing data to Fiori/UI applications.
- RAP Proficiency : Deep, practical proficiency in the Restful Application Programming (RAP) model for building robust Fiori-ready services.
- Clean Core Familiarity : Strong understanding and practical experience with the Clean Core concept and the necessity of keeping the SAP S/4HANA core system clean of modifications.
- Extensibility Concepts : Solid understanding of modern extensibility techniques, including custom application development and the differences between in-app and side-by-side extensibility models.
- Database Procedures : Working knowledge of AMDPs for critical performance-intensive logic.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) development.
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems for ABAP.
- Knowledge of Fiori Elements and UI5 development is a plus
